Legal Entity In SuccessFactors Employee Central

Legal Entity: MDF Object

What is Legal Entity?

Earlier Legal Entity is under the Foundation Objects where we mange it in the Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures. Now It moved from Foundation Object (FO) to Meta Data Framework Object (MDF)

For Example: Observe the Below Screenshot.

Individual, Company, or Organization that has legal rights and obligations is known has Legal Entity.

Now, if we want to create the Legal Entity in Success Factors Employee Central System.

Login to the system, Go to Admin Center >> Search for the Action tool >> Employee Files >> Manage Data

Existing Legal Entity will look like the below screenshot.

Now let us Create the Legal Entity: Please click on the Create New as Legal Entity in search shown in the below screenshot.

Start Date: System always take the server date whereas you can change the date as per the requirement,

>>Legal Entity ID: Cornerstone_IND>> Naming should always be without spaces

>>Legal Entity Name: Cornerstone International

>>Company Description: Cornerstone Business Services

>>View Translations: If you want to maintain the legal entity in a different language you can go with this option and maintain your text.

>>Status: Active/Inactive: Active

>>Pay Group: After configuring the pay group object we can assign it to the Legal Entity.

>>Weekly Hours: 54 >> As per the company policy you need to enter the weekly hours

>>Currency: Indian Rupee (INR)

>>Country: India (IND)

If you set the fields as mandatory, we can setup it in the Configuration Object Definition

Once you enter all the required fields click on save. Below is the screenshot

Based on the above screenshot we can observe the 3 additional options as History, Take Action and Insert New Record.

History: We can see the modification and creation changes in the History Object Portlet.

Take Action: Make a Correction: If we want to make some correction click on Take Action drop down and click on Make a Correction and do the changes and then save.

(It modifies the record with overwriting the existing record. So, we cannot see any history of the previous record. We can do few changes if required to the existing values.)

Insert New Record: Insert new record (copy) option will maintain history of previous records, new record, and the field changes.

(Delimiting the record): Altogether it creates the new record with some effective data and here we can have the history of the previous record. It is nothing but copying the recording and here we can see the history of record.)

Now I want to do some changes to the Legal Entity: and I am changing the Legal Entity name from Cornerstone International to Cornerstone and Weekly Hours from 54 to 45

Click on the Take Action drop down and select the Make a correction and do the changes you wanted to change.

Observe both the above screenshot where you can clearly understand the changes/correction done. So, this is called Take Action: Make a correction

Now Let us Insert New Record and see what changes reflect in the History Object Portlet.

Now I wan t change the Start date effective from 08/20/2020 and wanted to change the Legal Entity name from Cornerstone to Cornerstone International and whereas Weekly hours from 45 to 54.

Based on the above screenshot you can clearly observe Effective Date, Old Record, New Record and has been recorded in the History Object Portlet. And whereas you can also observe the corrections made to the fields.

For Individual data entries we can maintain as the above examples. if we want to maintain bulk data, we have an option called Import Data.

If we want to delete the record click on Take Action and in the drop down, select Delete Permanently and click on Yes.

In EC objects are created with one effective date and system by default sets the till date as end date in the back end. That means the record id valid till date and we call it as an effective dated concept.

Once we create the Legal Entity and all the other objects like Business Unit, Department, and Cost Centre are created based on the Legal Entity object.
